Smothered Cabbage
1 head cabbage, chopped 2 chopped onions
1 lb. cubed salt meat or ham salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup vegetable oil  

Boil cabbage with salt meat (or ham) until tender.  Drain.  Add vegetable oil and onions, salt and pepper.  Cook 10-15 more minutes.
